Position Overview:

The Analyzer Engineer supports the Control Systems Department efforts to ensure reliable operations of analyzer systems at Motiva's Port Arthur Manufacturing Comples. This role ensures that analyzer performance meets customer and HSE requirements and that new and existing system designs meet corporate and industry guidelines. This role provides expertise to design, maintain and improve process analyzer systems with the objective of meeting reliability targets.


Develops long term improvement plans using best available technologies
Provides MOC technical review for analyzer designs, implementation, and upgrades
Conducts analyzer technology application feasibility analysis and new analyzer technology prototype tests
Supports CSE staff assigned to Production Areas on analyzer problems and issues
Provides technical guidance for the operation and maintenance of specialty systems/equipment. (CEM, GCs, ph meters, etc.)
Works with production team to ensure that operators, supervision, process engineers, and CSE staff understand function, capabilities, and limitations of process analyzers
Monitors and reviews analyzer performance trends to identify potential problems and opportunities
Audits analyzer maintenance/reporting/documentation systems for compliance with corporate policies
Develops training programs for Control Systems Engineers and Inspectors
Develops, reviews, and approves analyzer system design packages
Develops, documents, and implements the Quality Assurance Process for analyzer projects
Ensures that all analyzer designs and installations meet Motiva design standards, applicable codes/regulations, and acceptable work practices
Monitors analyzer calibration test results and recommends changes to improve integrity and reliability, if needed
Ensures completion of assigned MOC and PSSR action items per specified timelines
Provides technical guidance on the analyzer design for modifications/new projects
Reviews/audits Continuous Emissions Monitoring (CEM) Analyzer maintenance work processes and procedures to ensure compliance with Environmental Regulations and documentation requirements
Experience and Education Required:

Bachelor's degree or higher education in Engineering or Chemistry
10+ years of experience working in analyzer design, implementation, and maintenance
2+ years of experience working in analyzer field construction project support
Experience Preferred:

Expertise on Conductivity, Oxygen, pH and LEL single stream analyzers design and implementation requirements
Expertise on Continuous Emissions Monitoring (CEM) analyzer design and implementation requirements
Expertise on Gas Chromatograph (GC) analyzer design and implementation requirements
Knowledge of relevant industry standards and EPA/TCEQ regulations
Knowledge of Model based analyzer technologies (NIR, NMR, etc.) design and implementation requirements
Knowledge of Analyzer Design Engineering Standards and industry best practices
Knowledge of Analyzer Infrastructure networks design and maintenance
Knowledge of design and documentation tools, including SPI/InTools, Excel, Word and Adobe
Physical Requirements:

Physical ability to work around and on industrial equipment, including occasional climbing of stairs and ladders
Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (respirator, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, heeled boots, and hearing protection)
Other Requirements:

Must have legal authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the requirement of a work visa
Must currently hold or be able to qualify to receive a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card
Must support and comply with the company's drug free work environment, which will include random drug screenings

Must support and comply with the company's safety policies and initiatives
Must support and comply with the company's diversity and inclusion work environment policies
