Turner Industries is seeking an experienced licensed HVAC Mechanic
for the Bay City, TX, area. Candidate must be local to the area; no
per diem or relocation available Previous chiller experience a Plus
Current HVAC License - State of TX Valid Driver's License
Industrial Maintenance experience preferred General Job
Description: Assembles, installs, services, and repairs air
conditioning refrigeration, and heating units used in homes,
schools, commercial, and industrial buildings. Functional
Requirements: Workers should be able to: Work withing precise
limits or standards of accuracy; Look at flat drawings or pictures
and visualize how they would look as solid objects with height,
width, and depth; Perform a variety of duties which may change
often; and rate information using measurable standards. Physically,
workers must be able to: Reach for, handle, and feel objects; Lift
objects weighing up to 100 pounds, with frequent lifting and
carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds; See well (either
naturally or with correction) and distinguish colors; Climb and
maintain balance on high ladders and scaffolds; and stand, stoop,
kneel, or crouch. Employee studies building plans and working
drawing to determine work aids required and sequence of
installations. May measure windows or other existing openings, or
cutting through walls, using a mallet, cold chisel, or other tools
to install new units. Diagnoses causes of equipment breakdowns,
tests parts with appropriate instruments, dissembles and assembles
parts, and makes necessary repairs. May drill holes to mount units
and lift parts into position. Locates and marks position of pipe
and/or duct connections and passage holes for same in walls and
floors, using ruler, spirit level, and plumb bob. Cuts openings in
walls and floors to accommodate pipe and/or duct fittings, using
hand tools and power tools. Cuts and threads pipe, using pipe
cutters, cutting torch, and pipe-threading machine. Connects motors
to control panels and balances motors to insure efficient
operation. Connects control panels to power source. May weld
holding fixtures to steel structural members. May install and
maintain solar heating and cooling units. Qualification Standards:
One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill
(depending on mechanic level) Written pre-employment qualification

Tools/Equipment: Employee may be required to provide the following:
tool box, claw hammer, hand saw, framing square, level, tri square,
torpedo level, measuring tape, nail pouch, plumb bob, gloves, nail
bar, chalk box, tie wire pliers, hack-saw, pliers or vise grips,
screw drivers, wood chisels, folding ruler or tape, crescent
wrench, scaffold socket wrench and combination wrench, rain suit.
HVAC MECHANIC (HVAC) Physical Involvement: Employee may be required
to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.
above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders,
scaffolds structures, etc.; reaching in all directions, handling
and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements
of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting
30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead;
carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.; standing; sitting;
walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting ;
crawling; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or
without correction. Mental Involvement: Employee may be required to
do the following: knowledge the use of levels and transits;
following set procedures and standards; applying basic mathematical
skills; planning work and selecting proper tools; comparing and
understanding differences in the size, shape and form of lines,
figures and objects; picturing and evaluating solid objects from
drawing or diagrams using standards that can be measured or
checked; following oral and/or written directions, plans and
blueprints; reading; writing; ability to recognize and report
safety hazards. Work Environment Factors: Location: industrial
construction sites Mobility Barriers to Access Job Site: uneven
ground level; obstructed pathways; work performed at low and/or
high elevations; work performed in confined areas
Climatic/Environmental Conditions at Job Site: predominately
outdoor climate; may be exposed to extreme hot or cold weather,
excessive humidity, rain, etc.; various noise levels caused by
tools, machinery, equipment, etc.; potential exposure to chemical
