Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible for providing
electronic and instrumentation support and analysis necessary for
the operation and maintenance of all instruments and controls in
the Canal, Industrial, and Municipal Divisions located in Fort
Bend, Brazoria, and Galveston Counties. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS •
Install, maintain, repair, test & calibrate instrumentation,
communication, and SCADA devices that record, indicate, transmit,
control, and regulate level, flow, pressure, temperature, position,
and any other control status. • Install, maintain, repair, test,
and calibrate analytical analyzers such as turbidity, pH,
conductivity, and others for use in the treatment and quality
control of the process. • Read and interpret wiring diagrams,
loops, and logic, along with a basic understanding of mechanical
drawings and equipment specifications. • Trench and install
conduit. • Install barriers, sump pumps, and associated temporary
equipment to perform work at a job site. • Estimate labor,
materials, and supplies necessary to complete projects. • Perform
necessary setup and cleanup of work before and after job execution.
• Create and modify assets, time, material, and job execution in
the Asset Management System • Fault analysis of PLC-based system up
to the PLC with the ability to progress into troubleshooting
control logic and making control logic modifications. • Provide
SCADA support and maintenance. • Implements and provides preventive
maintenance on all instruments, meters, and SCADA • Maintains all
warning signals and alarms. • Configure, Install, and Troubleshoot
Various Communication Protocols and equipment ( MODBUS RTU, MODBUS
TCP, ETC.) • Ensure all external customers, vendors, contractors,
government regulators & members of the public relationships are
maintained on a professional and productive basis. • Interact with
organization team members and other departments in a professional
manner • Contribute to a safe work environment by following the
Authority’s safety rules, guidelines, and procedures. PHYSICAL
DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT • The work is typically performed while
intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, or
walking. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects,
climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of
dexterity, and distinguishes between shades of color. • The work is
typically performed in a water treatment plant or a remote
location, outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The
employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with
moving parts, and irritating chemicals. The work requires the use
of Personal Protective Equipment. QUALIFICATIONS/PREFERRED SKILLS •
Minimum of 2 years of experience in the basic principles relevant
to the duties of the position, with a certificate/diploma from an
accredited technical school, or military electrical/electronic
training. Field experience in an industrial/Municipal environment
preferred. • Skill in the use of typical instrumentation tools such
as HART communicators, multi-meters, and calibration equipment. •
The ability to diagnose instrumentation problems up to the PLC is
required. PLC Logic Programming and troubleshooting are preferred.
• Knowledge of Instrumentation principles. • Skill in reading and
interpreting diagrams and prints. • Skill in the use of electrical,
pneumatic, and hydraulic testing equipment and calibration. • Skill
in troubleshooting electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. •
Solid foundation in basic math. • High-level understanding &
competency in utilizing a wide variety of software & computer
applications, including MS Office, Outlook, and other applications
specific to the job (Pacware, Schneider Control Expert, Siemens
Simatic PDM knowledge is preferred). • Attention to detail,
collaboration skills, flexibility, and ability to multitask. •
Self-starter and able to work on their own. • Skill in oral &
written communication. • Understand and carry out verbal and
written directions. • High School /GED diploma required. • Valid
Driver’s License OTHER DUTIES This job description does not list
