Job Description:
Position OverviewThe 30+ year company supports the petrochemical
and manufacturing industry domestically and internationally and is
headquartered along the Houston Ship Channel. With various
locations around the US, the company provides training,
occupational medicine, and innovative solutions to the industry.
The Occupational Medicine Physician works under the direct
supervisor of the Chief Medical Officer in evaluating and treating
patients both in physical clinics and virtually. Essential Job
ResponsibilitiesTreats and evaluates occupational medicine patients
in clinicSupervises ancillary staff such as physician assistants,
nurse practitioners, nurses, medical assistants, etc.Performs minor
surgical procedures including but not limited to joint injections,
laceration suture repair, wound debridement, and foreign body
removal. Assures efficient patient workflowTravels to different
clinical locations as neededPerforms telemedicine evaluations for
occupational injuriesAssists with occupational case management
calls Responds to after-hour injury calls and in-clinic visits as
needed Adheres to the state medical board rules and regulations
Assists and/or leads new clinic projects as requestedPreferred
Skills & QualificationsRequires a medical degree (MD)Requires
experience in occupational medicine Board certified/eligible in
Occupational medicine preferredRequires an active, unrestricted DEA
licenseRequires an active, unrestricted state-controlled substance
license if required by stateCan have no restrictions on prescribing
medicationsCan have no active investigations by any state medical
licensing boardRequires a full unrestricted medical license in
Texas and Louisiana with eligibility in all 48 other statesWorking
knowledge of OSHA regulations, injury
work-relatedness/causationRequirementsCustomer service skills
Strong minor surgical skills Strong communication skills, both
written and oralMust enjoy working with the public and have a
strong initiative to work independentlyMust be able to respond to
after-hour callsMust be able to adapt to work in varied
environments and learn detailed procedureProven ability to work
under pressure and make effective decisionsCross-train and assist
other departments as necessaryMaintain all required Continuing
Medical Education (CME)Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties
of this job, the employee is regularly required to read, talk or
hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, use
hands to handle training equipment and tools, reach with hands and
arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The
employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds. Specific
vision abilities required by this job include close vision,
distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception,
and ability to adjust focus.Work EnvironmentThis job is typically
in an office environment and requires travel as needed. Reasonable
