Job Description:
Job Description JOB SUMMARY: Performs responsible advanced
clinical care with a primary focus on Substance Use Disorders
(SUDs) and community-based internal medicine, in collaboration with
supervising physicians and under approved protocols. This role
manages the medical aspects of care including observation,
assessment, diagnosis, intervention, evaluation, rehabilitation,
patient counseling, and health education for individuals affected
by SUDs and related medical conditions. The position emphasizes
evidence-based addiction medicine, integrated primary care, and
community health, while also supporting health promotion, illness
prevention, and continuity of care across inpatient, outpatient,
and community settings. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Department of
Internal Medicine is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider
(APP) to join our team, focusing on supporting Substance Use
Disorders (SUDs) and Community Medicine initiatives. This position
is funded through a 50/50 split between the St. Vincent's Hope
Clinics and the Department of Internal Medicine. It is uniquely
structured to dedicate 50% of the time to inpatient and outpatient
SUD clinical access, supported by the Department of Internal
Medicine, and 50% to Community Medicine and/or clinical research
access, supporting the St. Vincent's Hope Clinics and the Center
for Addiction Sciences and Therapeutics (CAST). The SUD clinics,
inpatient consult service, and Community Medicine clinics serve as
interprofessional clinical training grounds, making this role ideal
for individuals with a passion for medical education in a
supportive academic setting. While interest and experience in
clinical research are also encouraged, they are not mandatory. This
position is perfect for those eager to develop expertise in
delivering specialized SUD care using a contemporary,
evidence-based, and patient-centered approach within an expanding
program focused on excellence in interprofessional clinical care,
education, and research to best serve our community. The APP will
support specialized Primary Care SUD and Community Medicine clinics
on Galveston Island on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
mornings, and will assist the Addiction Medicine consult service on
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons on the Galveston Campus.
The remaining time will be dedicated to community care, research,
and/or administrative duties. While clinical experience in treating
SUDs is not a prerequisite, applicants should be strong patient
advocates for the treatment and prevention of SUDs. Experienced

encouraged to apply. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Physician Assistant:
