Our team has a combined 100+ years in the seafood industry and has a vast knowledge of this industry s every facet.Job descriptionSeafood Buyer/Procurement SpecialistAbout the Role:We are seeking an experienced and skilled Seafood Buyer/Procurement Specialist to join our team! As a Seafood Buyer, you would be responsible for and expected to source, manage, and purchase fresh and frozen seafood for our inventory. This position involves coordinating and identifying suppliers, negotiating prices, and building and maintaining long-term relationships with vendors to guarantee a consistent supply of quality product in stock. Expertise in the food distribution industry, advanced knowledge of market trends, and an ability to develop relationships with suppliers is essential for this position.Job Responsibilities:Build and maintain relationships with vendors to provide consistent supply and quality level of productStay updated on industry and market trends and regulatory requirements related to fresh and frozen seafood, and select products accordinglyAbility to forecast, manage, and control inventory on handNegotiate pricing and quantities based on customer needs, economic order point, product promotionsManage inventory to minimize waste, reduce costs, and optimize stock levelsEnsure quality standards are metMaintain accurate records for purchasing, contracts, pricing, and all other relevant supplier informationPerform other related duties as neededRequirements:Bachelor s degree required. Degree related field preferred.Minimum 5 years experience as a food buyer or in another related procurement rolePrevious experience in food distribution required, seafood knowledge is helpful but not necessaryStrong written and verbal communication skills required; ability to communicate effectively with internal departments, clients, vendors, customers, etc., on a daily basis required. Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize tasks effectively, maintain accurate records, organize files efficiently, and meet deadlines required.
