Dockhand ElectricianEssential Duties and Responsibilities:This
position is responsible for the following: Other duties may be
assigned.1. Perform electrical repair and maintenance such as
assemble, install, test, or maintain electrical or electronic
wiring, equipment, apparatus, or fixtures for Dry Docks, and
facilities.2. Troubleshoot and repair Dry Dock specific electrical
components, systems, and equipment.3. Familiar with 440 Volt
ungrounded systems, grounding docked vessels, Shore Power cables,
Shipboard Switchgear, transformers, and have ability to work with
pumps, controllers, and Tank Level Indicating Systems.4. Determine
the appropriate method and required equipment required for proper
electrical repair.5. May be required to install conduits, run wire,
and terminating.6. May train workers to install, maintain, or
repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures when
appropriate.7. Follow blueprints to determine the location of
wiring or equipment and to ensure conformance to safety codes.8.
Assist dry dock crew with opening and closing of tanks, mucking
tanks, Fire watch, and aiding in all aspects of dry
docking.Required Education & Experience:1. Minimum of High school
graduate or G.E.D. preferred.2. Experience/knowledge of electrical
circuitry.3. Industrial and/or marine Electrical experience
preferred.· 1st Class: 3-5 years· 2nd Class: 1-3 yearsWorking
Conditions:1. Some climbing (100 feet) and lifting (50 lbs.)
involved.2. Traverse gangways and scaffolding at varying heights
while wearing fall prevention equipment.3. Working with hot and
sometimes hazardous materials.4. Aboard ships, both on and offshore
as well as confined spaces.5. Must be able to stand and operate
equipment up to four continuous hours.6. The work requires long
periods of sitting in awkward positions, standing on a variety of
surfaces and at differing angles, bending over, crouching and
climbing up and over obstructions such as scaffolding, ladders, and
internal barge and boat structural members.Necessary Equipment
Operation:1. Operation of volt/ohm meter, amp meter, megger, and
voltage recorder.2. Various hand and power tools.3. Forklift4.
ManliftSpecial Skills:1. Ability to read and interpret blueprints,
sketches, drawings and technical manuals (i.e.: electrical
schematics.).2. Perform basic mathematical functions.3. Excellent
interpersonal and communication skills.4. High performance and a
strong team player.5. Capability to coordinate work with
supervisors, and other foreman.6. Ability to work under deadlines
and schedule pressures.7. Commitment to company values and safety
